Shormii Chowdhury (b. 1974) received her BFA in Painting from Santiniketan (2003), and her MFA in Painting from M.S University Baroda (2005). She has had three solo exhibitions and participated in over 30 group shows across India, Dubai, Singapore, Europe and the U.S. She won the Camlin Art Award in 2003, the Nokia Art Award in 1998, and received the Kalabhavan merit scholarship in 1998 - 2002.  In her quest for meaning, she explores human society and existence. Though she does not figure herself in her work, she is always the involved observer.
