Meher Afroz is one of Pakistan’s internationally recognized artists, with over 20 solo shows, and participation in numerous (40 at last count) two person and group shows across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and The U.S. Her work is in private collections globally, she has been featured in several publications on contemporary Pakistani Art, and amongst her many awards and accolades, she received the 2014 President’s Pride of Performance award from the Government of Pakistan. She is a Professor at the Indus Valley School of Arts and Architecture in Karachi, and founding member of ASNA, an artist cooperative. Her work is referred to as synergy between painting and poetry, visual poetry and prose, painted imagery, always showing a quiet restrained intensity. For Meher, her art is an instrument that records and reveals the state of society.
